Update Jan 5: Business Meeting scheduled for Friday afternoon CANCELLED

The Nor’easter that moved up the east coast Thursday has wreaked havoc, and travel plans are still in flux.  Members of the SAMR executive committee are caught up in this, too, and have decided to cancel the annual business meeting scheduled for Friday, January 5.

We are still  looking forward to see you all in Boston this weekend!  SAMR will hold an informal business meeting, has programmed one formal session with the SCS on Drama and the Religious in Ancient Greece, and in addition SAMR members have programmed a session of interest with the AIA.

CANCELLED: Annual Business Meeting   Friday, January 5, 5:00-6:00 PM.

The annual business meeting scheduled for Friday afternoon, 5:00-6:00 PM in the Courier Room of the Westin Hotel has been cancelled due to travel delays at Logan.  We will, however, conduct a brief business meeting Sunday afternoon immediately following our paper session (session 79 – see below).

SCS Session 79   Sunday, January 7, 2:00-4:30 PM.

Drama and the Religious in Ancient Greece  Location: Marriott New Hampshire, 5th floor.  We have four  papers programmed, authored by Sarit Stern, Alexandre Johnston, Lisa Maurizio, and Rebecca Raphael.  We look forward to hearing the papers and having a lively discussion about them.  Following the discussion, we will conduct a brief and informal business meeting to discuss plans for the coming year.

AIA Block 8f    Sunday, January 7, 12:00-2:30 PM.

Big Data and Ancient Religion: Gods in our Machines?   Location: Exeter, 3rd floor

SAMR members Sandra Blakely and Megan Daniels have organized an AIA session of interest to scholars of Mediterranean religions, with papers by Dan-el Padilla Peralta, Sarah Murray, Sebastian Heath, Sandra Blakely, and M. Willis Monroe.

We will be posting any weather-related updates to this blog in the next few days.  Travel safe to Boston, and see you soon!
